About Chelsey Neville
My art is meant to embody a simpler, country spirit. I prefer painting comforting, utilitarian items and objects reminiscent of a rustic or cottage sensibility. I am drawn to pastoral scenes, and while every landscape has its own charm and challenges, I am enticed by the beauty of a wide, sprawling Nebraska sky. I especially love a cloud speckled sky, whose play of shadows and light on the countryside illuminates golden patches of earth.
My husband and I live on an acreage in Holdrege with our four beautiful girls. I am self-taught as an artist, but have always had a passion for art and painting specifically. Time is lost when painting and it recharges me. Acrylic on canvas is my preferred medium, although I also use watercolors. I am always striving to improve, and add a level of realism, while still maintaining a degree of romanticism.
